I have a 2000 1.6 GLX Automatic and it keeps stalling.  Have had it back to the garage twice today and they are stumped as to what the problem may be.  Air filter is fine, spark plugs replaced, oil and water etc fine.  It only happens every so often, normally as I slow down to turn a corner or approach a roundabout then it may pull a little bit rather than chug. On a normal day to day basis, it runs like clockwork.  The 'check engine sign always comes on just before and it starts up first time everytime.  Please help!!

yeah, the 2 points given there is where id check first, dirty and blocked fuel filter would be one cause, also worth checking would be the exhaust system, collapsing CATs are common on baleno's and that could be one cause also with the exhaust getting blocked. have you had a fault code reader on? if so do you know what the faults are?

also just clicked, when i corner quite hard in my baleno with about just under a quarter tank of fuel the car goes to cut out, fuel starvation is the cause of that. just wondering if there could be a problem with your fuel pipes as they get pretty badly rusted and they could be drawing in some air or something like that

If the Check Engine Light comes on there will be a fault code, if the light doesn't stay on then you will need a scan tool to pull the code, a main dealer should be able to do this.
